I love being back in my hometown for the holidays. This means that me and my siblings are back under one roof and we revert back to our old habits (good and bad). I'll spare you the bad (like fighting over the bathroom and who has to help with post dinner clean up) and highlight some of the awesome things we do.
Sitting at our designated dinner spots, sharing inside jokes until someone falls off their chair from laughing too hard, riding in the car with the windows down and listening to music, going to the gym together, cuddling up in one queen bed and falling deep into a YouTube hole, and my most favorite is cooking/baking together.
The most recent time I went up to my parents was for Easter. I was so excited to have all the fam together and just enjoy everyone's company. We had a lot of things planned; wine, baking, talking, wine, laughing, cooking, wine, and Easter dinner. Secretly, I was most excited to have a full sized kitchen with all the baking equipment known to man, and a basement full of ingredients I could basically go shopping in.

Prep Time: 10 min. Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 25 min.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
10 figs cut in half (slice extra for garnish)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup filtered water
2 sprigs thyme
2 cups champagne
2 oz triple sec
Instructions:
Combine the honey, water and figs in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over low heat and whisk continuously until the honey is melted and the figs begin to soften. Add the thyme and let simmer for an additional 10 minutes, stirring often.
Remove from heat and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. Remove the thyme sprigs from the honey mixture and use a food processor or immersion blender to blend the honey and figs into a smooth syrup.
In a small pitcher, combine the champagne and triple sec. Add 6 tablespoons of the fig syrup and stir. Pour into four glasses and garnish with extra thyme and fig slices.
